Precision Machining of a Heat Screw for the Papermaking Industry

A client in the papermaking industry approached us for the machining of a heat screw that would be used in a paper mill to increase the paper strength during the recycling process. Following the specifications supplied to us by the customer in their 2D CAD drawings, we machined the heat screw on our manual lathe. To ensure that the part ran true during the turning process, we used a steady rest. This heat screw also required us to apply our boring capabilities. This part had final overall dimensions of 65” diameter x 36’ long and we worked to tightest tolerances of ± 0.002″.

We fulfilled all customer specifications and completed this project in 2 weeks. Our ability to turn large sized components sets us above our competition. To learn more about this project, see the table below or contact us directly.
